Sarah Schneeweis is the owner of HYPE Dance Studio in California, and creative director of award-winning Fusion Dance Company. She is sought after for choreography by numerous professional dance teams, nationally ranked college and high school dance teams, dance studios across the country, recording artists, various commercial industrials, and much more. She is a current choreographer and instructor for the NBA Sacramento Kings Dancers, and is a former dancer and choreographer for the NBA Golden State Warriors Dance Team. She is also a former UDA Head Instructor, and a current choreographer and master teacher for UDA/Varsity. She is a veteran judge for National Dance Team Championship and UDA College Dance Nationals annually. Sarah is the co-creator of annual dance production "Believe" that runs in the holidays in Northern California. Sarah’s vision and specialty in dance production choreography has been awarded and recognized throughout her career. Sarah’s work and devotion to education in the dance industry has established her voice with her students, colleagues and professionals. HYPE Dance Studio has been a successful business in the Chico area since 2003 and acclaimed as on the of the top 50 Studios in the United States by Dance Spirit Magazine. Sarah has also been recognized by Inside Dance Magazine and Danceprenuer Podcast on iTunes, both of whom did feature articles on Sarah, her choreography, and her philosophies on dance. Sarah also leads the award-winning Fusion Dance Company into its 15th year on the competition/convention circuit with over 60 members. She looks forward to continuing her work as a major influence in the dance industry.
FDC, Ballet, Hip Hop, Tap, Jazz
Tomi was born and raised in Orange County, California, where her love for the performing arts started at an early age. She began her training at Huntington Academy of Dance, where she committed herself to a rigorous ballet program known world-wide as the Cecchetti method. Under this method, students are tested and graded on a yearly basis in both their ability to properly execute particular ballet movement, as well as their knowledge of the French theory and terms. Tomi spent 7 years training under the Cecchetti method, attending summer intensives across the country and completing 7 graded Cecchetti exams, passing with honors as a pre-professional student. Her performance history includes 8 years in The Nutcracker, receiving the lead role as "Clara" in 2003, where she danced with Principal guest artist, Aram Manukyan of the Sarasota Ballet of Florida, a master instructor since 1988 throughout Russia. She has also performed roles in popular classical ballets and variations such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Coppélia, and Giselle. Her training extends beyond ballet as she has been a competitive dancer since the age of 8 in tap, jazz, hip hop, modern, lyrical and contemporary dance, receiving numerous awards as both a soloist and group competitor. She began her teaching career at Orange County's Impact Dance Center, at the age of 16 where her love for teaching grew into a passion. After graduating high school she continued her training into college becoming a member of the pre-professional modern dance company, Leverage Dance, from 2009-2013. As a college student, Tomi decided to broaden her horizons and moved to the North State where she found herself continuing her education at Butte College and California State University, Chico and has earned a B.A. in Communication Studies: Public Affairs. Tomi is very excited to be able to continue teaching at HYPE!

Tatum was born and raised in Sunnyvale, CA where her love for dance blossomed at the age of 6. She began her training at Dance Attack Studios and began competing at the age of 12. The name of her dance company was, DAC PAC, which stood for Dance Attack Contemporary Performing Arts Company. It is the mission of DAC PAC to cultivate and to prepare students for a successful career in the dance field. Throughout middle school and high school, Tatum competed all over the United States at conventions and competitions such as NYCDA, JUMP, Nuvo, Adrenaline, Hollywood Vibe, West Coast Dance Explosion, and many more. She attained numerous scholarships and opportunities over the years. Her team won countless first overall awards in jazz, tap, contemporary, and hip-hop. She has worked with well-known choreographers such as Anthony Morigerato, Nick Lazzarini, Melody Lacayanga, Sidra Bell, Chris Jacobson, Karen Chuang and Chantel Aguirre. Tatum also assisted choreographer, Cheryl Copeland her sophomore and junior years of high school. Tatum attended the BHUMN Summer Forum in Austin, Texas the summer before her junior year of high school. She was also accepted into the Peridance Summer Program in New York City where she attended the summer before her senior year of high school. She is currently a member of the Expressions Chico State Dance Team and is entering her sophomore year at the university. Tatum is majoring in Journalism/Public Relations and minoring in Marketing. She is eager to share her knowledge and passion for dance with the HYPE family!
FDC, Ballet, Contemporary, Pilates
Natalie Wyman was born in Santa Cruz, California and began studying dance at the age of 3. She studied at the esteemed pre-professional ballet program, The Studio and was a member of the Santa Cruz Ballet Theater from 2004-2012. She attended and performed at Regional Dance America Conferences in 2009, 2010, and 2011 and danced annually in the SCBT's production of the Nutcracker, accompanied by a live orchestra. She performed roles including, snowflake, flower, marzipan, and soloist for Arabian. Natalie studied individually with the former principle dancer, Deborah Hadley of Pacific Northwest Ballet and was chosen to attend Alonzo King Lines Ballet Summer Intensive. In 2012, Natalie left the pre-professional program choosing to focus her dance studies on contemporary and lyrical genres. She joined Coastal Vibe Dance Company and competed in regional, state, and national competitions. Natalie also had the opportunity to work with Duncan Cooper who choreographed a modern-ballet solo for her. And she also had the opportunity to take classes taught by Misty Copeland, Travis Wall, and Kent Boyd. She won numerous 1st place awards for contemporary solos and duos. In her final competition of her high school career, Natalie placed in the top 4 at Spotlight National Dance Competition in Las Vegas in 2015. Since moving to Chico, to pursue her college education, she was selected to be a member of the Chico State Expressions Dance Team and was also elected as an officer for the team. Natalie continues to be committed and passionate about all forms of dance, and is thrilled to have the opportunity to pass her knowledge and enthusiasm on to the younger dancers here at Hype!
Pre-Dance, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tumbling
Lexie Greminger started dancing at HYPE Dance Studio when it opened in 2003 when she was just 5 years old. Lexie was on HYPE’s very first Mini Fusion team in 2006 and again in 2007. She started competitively dancing with Fusion Dance Company in 2008 and competed with them all the way through her senior year in 2016. While on Fusion, she traveled to conventions and competitions in California and Nevada. She has had high scoring solos including Platinum awards from various companies. While being a part of our Fusion Dance Company, Lexie has studied in Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Tap, Contemporary, and Lyrical. When she was in 7th grade she was in her first big production, HYPE’s “Big Top” and has performed in “Believe” for the past six years as a lead dancer in many roles. In 2012 Lexie became an apprentice at HYPE, assisting classes in Jazz technique, Ballet, and Tumbling. Lexie started teaching at HYPE in 2015. Lexie love’s sharing her passion of dance with all of her students!
Liz moved to Chico when she was 2 years old and, except for a couple of short time periods, has lived there since. She started out taking gymnastics classes at Chico Gymnastics Centre at the age of 7 and by the time she was 14 had been competitive for several years. She then switched her focus to cheerleading and cheered for Chico Junior, Chico High and finally for Chico State for both their football and basketball teams. During this time, she also taught gymnastics at Athletic Horizons to children aged 2-15 in tots to pre-team levels. Liz graduated from Chico State with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design and Textiles and started working in management. She began to miss working with children and decided to do prerequisites and the credential program at Chico State to get her teaching degree. She then taught 3rd grade in Yuba City for 3 years and for the last 17 years has been teaching kindergarten at Capay Elementary School. About 7 years ago, her oldest daughter started dancing at Hype. When there was a change in staff for tumbling, she happily agreed to start teaching tumbling classes. Along with Lexie, she has grown the program to be able to offer about 6 classes a week and loves being able to teach and interact with kids who have such a wide range of ages and skills, as well as kids who are on team and recreationally taking classes!

Laken’s passion for dance began at age two in a princess ballet class through CARD. By age six, she transitioned to Hype Dance Studio where she added weekly jazz and hip hop classes. For two seasons, she was a dancer on the Lil Rascals Dance Team performing sideline routines during the Chico Outlaws games. From there Laken joined the Hype All Stars Dance Team competing at UDA Competitions throughout Northern California. In 2013, she joined Fusion Dance Company (FDC) and is currently on the Senior Team. As a member of FDC, she has traveled to several conventions and competitions throughout the state receiving high scoring awards and scholarships. She continues to study ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, contemporary, and lyrical. She has been cast in five “Believe” productions dancing in many roles. Freshman year, Laken became a Hype Apprentice assisting technique, jazz, and ballet classes and has participated in several Student Choreography Showcases. Laken is finishing her Senior year at Pleasant Valley High School. She is part of the Enloe Junior Volunteer program and is planning to pursue a nursing degree in college. An interesting dance fact about Laken – she only started tap at age 13. Not only is tap a favorite dance style, but it is one of her top co-choreographed and competition routines. Laken is thrilled to share her knowledge and love of dance as an instructor for Hype Dance Studio!
Lexi has grown up at the studio since she was four years old. She is now a senior at Pleasant Valley High School and will be graduating as apart of the Class of 2019. She started taking classes at HYPE Dance Studio in 2004 in a princess ballet class. She continued to take recreational classes until she was seven years old, when she tried out for Mini Fusion. Shortly after she tried out for Fusion Dance Company and has continued ever since and has been apart of the senior team since she was thirteen. Lexi has traveled all long the state of California and Nevada for various dance competitions and conventions. She has received many awards and scholarships for her dedication for dance at these events. Lexi trains in all styles such as contemporary, ballet, jazz, and her favorite hip hop. She was apart of the show “Big Top” and has been apart of “Believe” dancing as many roles for three years and this year was casted as a Dream Girl. She plans to move to San Diego for college after this year and continue to dancing while she’s down there. Lexi is so grateful for all the memories she’s made here at HYPE and hopes to share her love of music and dance with other students at the studio!
Kendall is going to be a junior at Pleasant Valley High School starting fall of 2019. She is currently on Fusion Dance Company’s senior competitive team. Kendall has grown up at this studio and has taken dance classes since she was 4 years old. Over the years here at Hype, she’s obtained scholarships and has taken classes from the most elite choreographers in the industry. Kendall has seen the various perspectives of the studio from being a student, to an apprentice, and now a teacher! She’s also a part of the Enloe Junior Volunteer Program which helps high school students further their work experience in the medical field. Kendall’s beyond thrilled to be a Hype staff member and cannot wait to see what the upcoming year holds!
Katie is approaching her junior year at Pleasant Valley High School. Katie began dancing in 2014 at age 10 and joined HYPE’s All-star Dance Team. She immediately became focused on becoming a part of the Fusion Dance Company, which she joined the following year in 2015. Katie has traveled around the state attending dance competitions and conventions. She has received many awards and scholarships while traveling. Katie trains in styles such as contemporary, ballet, hip-hop, and jazz weekly. She also has been a part of the production “Believe” for four years, where she has had the opportunity to play one of the lead roles in three of those years. In Katie’s freshman year of high school, she began apprenticing hip-hop and jazz classes, along with being a part of the student Choreography Showcase for two years, where she had the opportunity to choreograph and teach dances of her own. Katie plans to go on to college and graduate with a business degree. Katie is excited to share her love and dedication to dance with all of the other students at HYPE Dance Studio!
Mia was raised in Chico, California where she began her dance career at the age of four taking ballet classes. She also has been involved in local theatre from a very young age. She has had numerous roles dancing and singing at the Blue Room Theatre, Chico Regional Theater, and school plays. In 2011 she began dance lessons at Hype Dance Studio and in 2014 started competing with Hype competitively in Fusion Dance Company. Recently Mia has won dance awards including Senior Non-Stop Dancer runner up at 24Seven Dance, as well as a Senior Scholarship at Hollywood Vibe and Hollywood Dance Jamz. She also received a Move award and That’s My Jam award at Move and Hollywood Vibe for her solo in the 2018/19 dance season. Mia’s favorite style of dance is hip hop, but she also enjoys contemporary, jazz and tap. Mia has performed as a lead dancer in various roles in Hype’s production of “Believe” for several years and last year she had the lead role of the Conductor. Mia is passionate about dance and is looking towards a career as a professional dancer and instructor!
Nicole’s love for dance began when she was just 7 years old and was cast in Hype’s Production “Big Top”. It was then that she realized that dance was her calling and decided to jump straight into Mini Fusion. Since then she has earned numerous awards, including first overall at Fluid Dance Competition as well as platinum and top 10 placings. She has also been the recipient of many scholarships at conventions such as HDJ, CoDance, and 24Seven Dance. She has been cast in lead roles in “Believe” including main train child and conductor. Nicole attended Sacramento Ballet’s ballet intensive where she learned from top notch instructors, opening her eyes to a different approach to dance styles and techniques. Being a part of Fusion Dance Team has enabled her to continue her passion of all dance styles. As a Freshman she began apprenticing for FDC jazz and hip hop classes. She has also participated in many Student Choreography Showcases as both a dancer and a choreographer. She continues to study hip-hop, contemporary, jazz, ballet, and lyrical. Nicole is an active member in Chico’s National Charity League, volunteering for local philanthropies, such as Ability First. Nicole is starting her junior year at Chico High School and looks forward to sharing her passion for dance with her students and being a part of the HYPE staff.
